October brings the crunch of leaves and the colors of fire in an otherwise bland world. Fall arrives with the first breeze of cold air and we are finally reminded of spiced pumpkin latte. Everywhere you look, trees are shedding leaves to prepare for snow.
Many people love the visual we just described. Not to mention it looks fantastic in pictures! Here are 5 fun ideas for a fall photoshoot you can Instagram for a year!
Row of Trees
Empty clearings are the best place for this photoshoot. Find a garden or outdoor location where there are lots of trees with autumn leaves. The rows of trees with a clear path down the middle will give off that ethereal vibe you’re looking for. Wear a bright, contrasting color for full effect.
Close-Up in a Field
You can also choose to only present fall colors instead of the whole view. Your portrait could be focused in the center, with the bright orange cloud of hue behind you. Don’t worry if the background does not appear as vivid as you would like. Any good photographer you hire can easily color-correct in the post-production phase.
Contrasting Images
You can use props to create a sharp conceptual contrast with the fall. For instance, you can get a blue, pink, or yellow flower to tuck behind your ear or pin on your head. A flower crown will also be a great addition. Even good quality fake flowers do the job exceptionally well!
Playing with Light
If you have a good portrait photographer, they will know exactly how to play with light for maximum effect. From capturing filtered light through the trees to professional lighting tools—there are so many things the right illumination can do.
If you’re taking these photos yourself, try to use a mirror or a DIY light diffuser to bring as much light on your face as possible. This will ensure good results.
The Fog Effect
Fall is already a foggy season. But if you would like your photoshoot to be dramatic, you can get a smoke machine for the perfect cinematic experience. Refer to Pinterest for more ideas!
If you want your fall portraits to be good enough for social media or your personal blog, hiring the right photographer is crucial.
